Mats Blom

Chairman of the board

Mats Blom is Chairman of the Board of Directors at Medical Need. Mats is currently Senior Vice President and CFO at listed Danish biotech company Zealand Pharma. Prior to joining Zealand, Mats served as CFO of Swedish Orphan International. Mats has also held the CFO position at Active Biotech and Anoto, both publicly listed, and also has many years’ experience from management consulting at Gemini Consulting and Ernst & Youngs Transaction Services. Mats holds a BA in Business Administration from the University of Lund and an MBA from the I:E:S:E University of Navarra, Barcelona.

Gudrun Hörnquist

Founder and boardmember

Gudrun has long experience from the regulatory field, including the Swedish Medicinal Products Agency with experience from Named Patient Use approval and assistance in marketing authorization approvals and procedures. Prior to joining Medical Need, Gudrun was Head of Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance at Swedish Orphan International for over fifteen years. Where she through her responsibility for the company’s regulatory activities gained significant experience from the registration and maintenance of pharmaceuticals and orphan medicinal products across EU. Gudrun holds a Pharm. Mag. from the University of Uppsala.

Kennet Rooth

Founder and boardmember

Kennet holds extensive experience from the marketing of niche specialty pharmaceuticals and orphan drugs. Kennet served as CEO of Swedish Orphan Biovitrum and was previously Head of Marketing and Sales and later also deputy CEO at Swedish Orphan International, with responsibility for the international expansion and the establishment of subsidiaries in several European countries. Prior to Swedish Orphan, Kennet held various senior positions within Bristol-Myers Squibb both in Sweden and internationally, including Executive Director and Country Manager. Kennet holds a degree in Biology/Chemistry from Stockholm University and received General Management training at CEDEP/INSEAD.

Peder Walberg

Founder and CEO

Peder was previously Head of Business Development and Strategy at Swedish Orphan Biovitrum and Swedish Orphan International, responsible for the company’s successful portfolio expansion as well as corporate strategy. Peder has a background as a management consultant with the Boston Consulting Group, focusing primarily on the life sciences sector, and has also served as Head of Business Development and New Products at Novartis Nordic. Peder is a registered physician with an MD from Uppsala University and also holds a BA in International Economics and Business Administration from the same university.
